Some updates

We're almost done moving...believe it or not.

We've been completely out of our old apartment and only have to finish unpacking everything. The kitchen is all done, our bathroom is all done, Jenny & Diego's room/bathroom have been done. All that's left is the living room and our bedroom! So hopefully we'll finish that up sometime soon.

I don't really know where this came from, but my stomach is trying to kill me, while we were building the entertainment center yesterday I just had to stop and take breaks because I was in so much pain, but we got it built, and then I had to just stop and lie down. Jenny came home and she helped Kyle lift it up, they went to meet up with Diego at Borders where they met the infamous Zak Wylde! I stayed home with my monstrous little puppy, better known as Dexter. He's so crazy, lol. But I love him :) He's so smart! He learned how to shake in only a matter of minutes! I'm working on rolling over, to add to his list of tricks. He sits and lies down really well :)

My updates aren't exciting, haha, but it's all I have! :)

Moving Sucks!

Seriously, the only words I feel can summarize these past few days is:

"Moving SUCKS!"

For example, today, I got up, walked Dexter, came home, quickly showered, went to work for 9 1/2 hours, got off work, drove around for another half an hour trying to figure out what would be open for food because half of our shit is in one apartment while the other half is in the other. Went to the apartment, piled up the car with our stuff, came to the new apartment, unpacked stuff, dragged our incredibly heavy and impossible to move mattress up a few flights of stairs, dropped it into our bedroom, then I fed Dexter, played with him because the poor little guy didn't get much play time today, and then collapsed into bed.

I'm exhausted and not nearly done moving. Tomorrow will be a repeat of the process, but hopefully Kyle will be able to get more done now that today we finished with the big furniture (sort of...)

Hopefully by the end of this weekend our new apartment will be livable. I packed an over night bag since our mattress is now in our new apartment...seriously, can't all our stuff magically find it's way here? I'm so tired :(

p.s. this is why I have been a bad, bad blogger. I just don't have any down time for myself to unwind and gather my thoughts into a coherent entry. Sorry folks, hopefully I'll get a chance to explain all the other things that are going on. On another note, I'm really not SUPER unhappy, I'm just grumbling because I need to grumble to someone/thing.

Exhibitchin'

Last night was...bitchin'! lol

Carly and I went to Exhibitchin' at the EMP (Experience Music Project) and it was lots of fun! It was a 60's themed "dance party" with a bar, a dance floor, all the exhibits were open, there were stylists giving girls beehives and a make up artist, etc. etc.

The bands were groovy, and we even received a complimentary beer for showing up early enough! Carly had her makeup done, and despite wanting to get my hair done, I didn't end up doing it. The one guy I wanted to do my hair was really popular, but he was doing a great job with all the hairstyles. Unfortunately, right as it was about to be my turn, he leaves for "5 mins"...which turned into 15 minutes...and then he gets back with a beer in his hand and is just chatting away, so we ask when we should come back, and he says in another 5 minutes, so we leave to go buy a record, we're back in like 3 minutes, and he's already doing another girl's hair. So I just gave up, lol.

Which turned out to be fine because we decided to leave a little early and go to The Highline, the new vegan bar in town. I had the "Santa Fe" sandwich, and it was oh-so-divine! My drink, the "Tortuga" was a bad choice, hah...it just wasn't tasty, but it might be good to someone else, I just prefer fruity chick drinks, or at least something with some sort of flavor to it. The "Tortuga" was just Hornitos+Scotch+Sweet Vermouth...and it was no bueno, I didn't even drink most of it, I ended up just having some of Carly's beer, lol.

Overall though, the night was quite a success! Carly and I chatted all night long, and it was so refreshing to hang out with a girl and just go out! lol :) I really hope we can plan some more adventures...and I really hope that she ends up moving to Seattle (she's currently in Bothell which is about 30 mins away) and that way we can hang out more often :)

Ikea Trip

Is it horrible that I love Ikea?

If you think it is, you have my permission to move on with your day and pretend that you didn't see this post :P

One of the things I love about Ikea is the Vegan Swedish Yellow Pea Soup:

(as soon as I knew we were making a trip to Ikea, I prayed to the vegan gods that the Swedish Yellow Pea soup was on the menu! I was SO excited when I saw that it was!)
(Here's a picture of my favorite soup in the whole world, no seriously. Nothing is as comforting and creamy and thick, as well as oh-so-delicious! I dream of making this from scratch at home, maybe one day I'll find the right recipe!)

While walking around Ikea, I stumbled across a few things that I loved so much I had to photograph:

(it looks like a dandelion, so delicate and whimsical)

(the paper flowers and wire make me believe I could recreate this...however, the plastic sphere around the bulb makes me think otherwise :\ )

(aren't these darling??)

Wed-nes-day!

New developments in my little corner of the world:

  • A little bit of a pay raise.
  • Planning to spend lots of monies on Friday (Ingrid Michaelson concert tickets and Ben Gibbard concert tickets, so obviously, it's money well spent!)
  • I made a batch of Banana Walnut muffins that are to die for! (long gone now!)
  • Classes for the Fall quarter are all picked out
  • Still struggling to figure out when exactly I can apply for residency
  • Watching Dexter (it's a great show, almost done with the first season)
  • Finally started Anna Karenin (it's been on my to-read list for evah) and I'm only in part three, but I love it and hope it never ends :)
  • I'm keeping up with practicing cutting hair (last night I cut both Kyle and Diego's hair, as well as my bangs)...for the pure sake of being cheap and not wanting to spend monies at salons.
  • The search for an apartment has been narrowed down to (essentially) two apartments. One I didn't see (costs less) but sounds great and the boys really like it...the other I did see, and it is great, plus the complex has a bunch of nice extra amenities and is very aesthetically pleasing!
  •  Photography has kind of loss it's appeal lately, probably because I take so many pictures at work.
  • I made "Chicken Alfredo" for dinner, and despite how yummy it is, I wish I had spinach to add to it :(
  • I had the most awkward morning, full of lots of unpleasant activities that I don't feel comfortable sharing here, or anywhere really, lol.
  • I'm considering joining "The World is Fun"...which (if you don't feel like looking it up) is basically a volunteer group for people ages 20-30...it might be a nice way to make some more friends.
  • I REALLY want to go to "Exhibitchin'" but I don't know if I have anyone to go with...I'll ask my one friend over 21, but if she says no, well, I'm s.o.l. because I'm sure as heck not going alone...
  • I'm le tired, so goodnight :)
p.s. I recently joined www.weheartit.com and let me tell you, I definitely heart it! haha :)
